Return of the open thread

Carrboro Day is guaranteed to be great.  The Centennial version is packed with attractions at Town Hall and Town Commons.  Some breakage of tradition was in order for this one -- not flagrant but noticeable.  Check out the full program at carrboroday.com.  

Living in this community is always interesting. For example, name calling here extends way beyond racial and sexual slurs. It often seems that one of the most damning names one can call someone around here is a Republican (and all those variations...conservative, birther, etc.). Personally, I have a strong bias against those who call others liars. Why can't we all just agree that different people have different perspectives and when someone has an opinion or belief that is different from our own, they just think differently....no label attached. Even what one person believes to be 'fact' can be open to interpretation. I hope in the upcoming election and in some of the contentious issues that are coming before our elected officials (Chapel Hill AND Carrboro), we can all take a civility pledge. If someone says something that you find objectionable, tell them so without blaming or accusing. If someone says something that you think is wrong, explain why you believe differently. 

Congratulations! Always be sure to read over your resume very carefully. Spell check won't catch it if you accidentally list yourself as being a Master of Pubic Administration. I should share this advice with Orange County's economic development director. Poor guy.
