Unfortunately, prior
Unfortunately, prior commitments keep me from attending this afternoon. I do wonder, attending or not, how many citizens not already included in another one of the categories, are really interested in providing their input on this.

Well I'm interested, but I'm also unable to attend. Not only am I out of town, but I have a job and I don't get paid to go to meetings on campus in the middle of the day. (Grrr.)

Ruby, Fred and others who weren't able to attend yesterday, I hope you will attend the second session on October 30. It's designated for faculty, staff and students but all are welcome. Just sign in when you arrive so the chair knows you are there to address the committee.

Why are these two sessions
Why are these two sessions only 4 days apart? And still in the middle of the afternoon? :-(
I have a work obligation all day on Tuesday, so unfortunately I can't be there. If I have time I will try to write something down. I had many interactions with the Chancellor when I was an undergrad at UNC and developed some very definite ideas about what makes good leadership at an educational institution.
Ruby Have to agree with you

Have to agree with you on this one. Scheduling both these meeting in the middle afternoon says that only the academic community and a lucky few can attend with out taking time off. That is not community friendly.

"To give those who had to work or had class a chance to voice their opinions, there will be another forum at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 at a campus location yet to be determined."

Thanks, Fred. I'm putting it in my calendar, and will try to stop in before my Roger Road Task Force meeting at 7:30.

Here's the news release with all the logistics info for the forum. As it says, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. At the last forum, several people spoke of what the University means to them and the people of North Carolina; I found it very moving to hear their personal and institutional reflections as well as their opinions. Many of them are also local residents and that came out as well.
Come and speak November 15, from 6-8 p.m. in Gerrard Hall, an easy walk from Franklin Street. This will also be one of the first events in the newly-renovated Gerrard Hall; reason enough to attend. I haven't been inside myself yet but the exterior literally takes you back in time.
