Public Hearing on County Plan - May 19

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AT THE PUBLIC HEARING for the Orange County Comprehensive Plan Update

Do you live, work or own land in Orange County? Are you concerned about whether you and your children can find work here and afford a home? Do you want farmland and natural areas to be protected? Then you should have a voice in the future development of Orange County.

What: The Orange County Comprehensive Plan serves to guide the County's growth and development through the year 2030. By setting goals and objectives, County officials can use the document to guide policy decisions that effectively provide a high quality of life for residents. The upcoming public hearing is the last public forum for the County to gather public input on the draft plan prior to adoption.

When: Monday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Gordon Battle Courtroom, 106 E. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough

You can have your voice heard in one of the following ways:

- Submit written and/or verbal comments at the meeting on May 19*;
- Email comments to County staff at CompPlanUpdate@co.orange.nc.us;
- Call Tom Altieri, Comprehensive Plan Coordinator, with your comments at (919) 245-2575; or
- Mail written comments to the Orange County Department of Planning and Inspections at 306-F Revere Road, PO Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

At the May 19 Public Hearing, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners will receive written and spoken input. After this hearing, the Planning Board will formulate recommendations for the Commissioners on adopting or making changes to the plan. The Commissioners are scheduled to consider adoption of the updated Comprehensive Plan at their August 19 meeting.

*Note: each member of the public who wishes to make a statement will be given 3 minutes to comment on the plan at the May 19 Public Hearing. If you wish to speak at the meeting sign in as you enter the room. You can use your three minutes most effectively by preparing written comments and focusing on one or two aspects of the plan that are most important to you.

Do you have any personal comments about why the Comprehensive Plan matters or what people should be concerned about?FYI, the event is also listed in our calendar at http://www.orangepolitics.org/events and on the bottom of every OP page under Upcoming events.

Did anyone go to the hearing? I just got back in town from a work meeting and have been offline all day... (I know, the horror!)
Perhaps you confused it with the Council hearing that was tonight?
I meant to post the question on the Public Financing thread. Lo siento.
