Currently Ranuko Soll is last with 3861, Susan Hunter with 3909, Nancy Oates with 3922 and current council elect Tai Huynh with 3946 votes according to WCHL with all precincts reporting (but not late mailed absentee ballots nor provisional votes.) Note there is less than a hundred votes among them. Jessica Anderson, Amy Ryan and Michael Parker came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. These are the numbers from Orange and Durham Board of Elections. Remember  Chapel Hill is in both counties.

Margaret and I just cycled to Kings Mill Precinct polling place. At 9:30 AM we were voters 35 and 36. No one was there passing out campaign literature. Historically this precinct has one of the highest turn out rates. We offered our IDs but it turns out you don't have to show IDs to vote until 2020.

 

2019 CHCCS School Board Election

A neighbor shared some info on the Chapel Hill Carrboro School Board Election.

   1.  Two school board candidates have withdrawn (Tortola and Huerta-Bapat); therefore only five are now running for four seats.

Chapel HIll elections

So where if anywhere are folks posting about local elections? This fall Orange-Chatham Sierra Club endorsed these candidates for Chapel Hill. Mayor: Pam Hemminger and Town Council at-Large: Sue Hunter, Tai Huynh, Michael Parker, Amy Ryan. Pam Hemminger is the incumbent running for reelection. She has worked on a number of environmental Issues. Michael Parker is an incumbent. I frequently saw him at the Moral Mondays marches in Raleigh. Amy Ryan has served on a number of town boards. Sue Hunter has been an advocate against domestic violence. Tai Huynh is a student at UNC and owner of a small startup in Chapel Hill.

Local Seats Up For Election in 2019: Who’s Running

The terms for Mayor of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough are all up this year, as well as seats on Chapel Hill Town Council, Carrboro Board of Alderpersons, Hillsborough Town Board and Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools Board. Carrboro Mayor Lydia Lavelle, Carrboro Alderperson Damon Seils, and Hillsborough Board Member Matt Hughes have all announced they will be running for election to their current positions. There are challengers for some of the seats up for election; so far they are Tai Huynh (CHTC), Jeff Charles (CHTC) and Susan Romaine (CBOA). See below for more information on who is up for re-election and what we know so far.
