This area has been known for decades for its thriving creative music scene. Many people travel from around the region – and sometimes around the world – to attend shows at the Cat's Cradle and other venues in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Less famous, but also doing us proud, are visual artists, dancers, actors, and filmmakers around the Triangle. In fact, Chapel Hill was home to the first Flicker festival, which now takes place in ten cities around the world!

I know many of you have seen me posting on here regarding State and Federal telecom politics..yuck.....well, I'm not going to do that tonight. I just wanted to extend an invitation to you all to come on down to The People's Channel and really see what we're all about. We all use OP to raise our voices and discuss issues, and that's exactly what we do at TPC as well! We teach people how to communicate using media, and let them air programs on our community TV station...how cool huh? This event is also a formal opportunity for other independent media makers to share their work (let me know if you want a table) and network with others who are creating local independent community media.
For the past few years, our community has been treated to some wonderfully unique, thoughtful, and entertaining puppet shows by the Paper Hand Puppet Intervention. You have one weekend left to catch this year's edition "As The Crow Flies" at the Forest Theater and one weekend to see them at the N.C. Museum of Art after that. I saw the show last weekend and I highly recommend it. I laughed, I cried, I took pictures, I did a little jig, I clapped - a lot.
Along with Paper Hand's summer finale at the Forest Theater, Carrboro and Chapel Hill are bracing for a blast of creative energy this weekend with the RadiCackaLacky Puppetry Convergence coming to town. If you don't enjoy some puppets somewhere, you are missing out on some the more flavorful treats of living in Orange County.
