The first environmental meetings on the Durham/Orange Light Rail Transit Project are thist Wednesday (May 2) and Thursday (May 3).
Wednesday’s meeting will be held at Extraordinary Ventures, 200 S. Elliott Rd. in Chapel Hill. Thursday’s meeting will be held at the Durham Armory, 212 Foster St. in Durham. The times for both workshops will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. If you can't make the meeting in Chapel Hill, the same information will be presented at the meeting in Durham.
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Triangle Transit intend to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to study the proposed 17-mile Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit project as a transit solution in Durham and Orange counties.
The purpose of the workshops is to solicit public input to identify and define the issues to be studied in detail through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental review process.
At the workshops, the public may view project maps, talk to staff,
and provide public comment.
Area citizens can also mail comments to TRTP, P.O. Box 530,
Morrisville, NC 27560 by e-mail to info@ourtransitfuture.com or call the Triangle Regional Transit Project hotline at
800-816-7817. The deadline for all comments is June 18, 2012.
